An Introduction
The founding of the village of Maryburgh is of comparatively recent origin. It dates from 1815 when Mary Elizabeth MacKenzie returned to Brahan Estate on the death of her father.
Since those early beginnings a thriving community has developed.

This pulpit fall was embroidered by Mrs. Mackay of Fortrose and shows the Burning Bush
This pulpit fall was embroidered by Mrs. Mackay of Fortrose and shows the Burning Bush. This is the emblem of the church and is taken from the story of Moses and the Burning Bush. The inscription reads NEC TAMEN CONSUMBATUR meaning "It was not consumed"

Maryburgh Free Church - opening following renovations
Following extensive renovations in 2019, members of the church and community were welcomed to an Opening Service on Saturday 2 November. Throughout the renovations, Mr Joseph Cox faithfully recorded each stage, and RCHS is grateful to him for making his photographic record available.
