The former Free Church in Jamestown, Strathpeffer. Following the Disruption of 1843 the people of Jamestown were gifted land by Mrs Stewart-Mackenzie of Seaforth and built a church in 1861-62 along with adjacent manse and glebe buildings. The building behind the church was reputed to be a school. The last service held in the church was in 1954 and the building fell into disrepair. Strathpeffer Heights Heritage Exhibition Sept 2001

In September of the year 2001, a group of 'Heights Folk' worked together to mount an exhibition in the Achterneed Hall, Heights, Strathpeffer. It was an outstanding success. The photographs from the Heights Heritage Exhibition have been divided into several photograph albums to make it easier to view.

Strathpeffer WW1

Strathpeffer WW1

The photos in this album are from the Ross-shire Journal during the 1914-1918 War. Newspaper copies had been deposited with Dingwall Museum but over the years had become rather fragile and were in danger of disintegrating and so it was felt that this valuable record should not be lost.

Strathpeffer War Memorial

The war memorial photographs on this site were originally the work of Mr John W Bruce. He has subsequently developed the website http://www.rosswarmemorials.org.uk which gives much more detail.
