Olaf and Hester Macleod

The contribution of Olaf and Hester Macleod to the cultural life of Ross and Cromarty was brought to mind when, in August 2019, Ross and Cromarty Heritage Society received an email from Alberto Rubio Diaz, owner of a house which he now runs as an hotel in Minas de Riotinto, Andalucia, Spain.

Burns Night Celebrations - photo 1

Like Scots all over the world, we held our Burns Supper on January 25th. This was a special occasion as it was the last school supper to be held in the Acterneed Halle.

We all enjoyed the traditional meal of haggis, tatties and neeps (burgers for those who preferred them) followed by ice cream and fruit; and finally oatcakes and cheese.

The parents and friends were entertained by classes 6 & 7. The children sang songs, recited poems and played violins and chanters.

The bonny lasses sang the ever popular "My Heart's in the Highlands" and "Comin' thro' the Rye"

Primary Seven took the stage to sing " Ye Banks and Braes O' Bonnie Doone"

All the boys sang one of the world's most romantic love songs "Ae Fond Kiss"

At rehearsals in the school, Amy, Ewan and Gordon worked hard to perfect their rendition of the famous poem "Tam O' Shanter"
