The Men's Club
The men’s club was a group of the local business men and those who held other high positions, who met regularly to work for the good of the local community. They held regular whist drives and played billiards, draughts, dominoes, and bridge for which they had an annual prizegiving. It was a very popular social club throughout the 1930’s and fizzled out during WW2 and was never reinstated.
In the 1980’s the building was used as an outdoor education resource centre and then lay empty for several years until the formation of the Muir of Ord Development Trust who became the driving force behind raising funds for the redevelopment of the building into a community Hub.
The Muir Hub was opened in 2017, funded largely by the Big Lottery Fund and Highlands and islands Enterprise. There are two multipurpose meeting rooms, one with retractable seating, and cinema surround sound. There is also an onsite café which has become a popular meeting place for the wider community.
