Heatherlea was the home of Duncan Logan and his wife Margaret Mackenzie. They were married in 1904 and by the 1911 census they were living at Heatherlea. The land around the property also became the builder’s yard for the company Duncan had started alongside his brother Thomas and a Mr MacDonald.

Duncan died in 1951 with Margaret dying in 1960. Heatherlea was sold soon after and was described as:

GROUND FLOOR – Lounge, Dining Room, 1 Bedroom, Kitchen, Hall and Bathroom

FIRST FLOOR – 3 Bedrooms and Toilet

Large Garage and outhouses.

Alister/air (name spellings change on different documents),  was born in 1906 and trained as a mason, presumably alongside his father. He was married twice and had two daughters. For many years he was a named director in the family businesses including; Natural & Crushed Stone Aggregates Ltd from 1943 and Duncan Logan (Plant) Ltd, Tulloch St, Dingwall in 1947.

 Alister died at his Dingwall home in 1967.

 

 

 

Eliza Mackenzie was born in 1910. She became a nurse and was married in 1935 to R.R. Smith, originally from Resolis, by then a Police Constable in Glasgow.

Isabella Fraser was born in 1911 and joined the family business as a clerkess. She married David Mackay Scott of Fearn, who at that time was a Police Constable in Dingwall. The couple remained in Dingwall, later moving to Strathbran. Isabella remained on the board of directors for Duncan Logan (Builders) Ltd, Tulloch St, Dingwall.

She died at her Strathbran home in 1968.

William was born in 1913.

Thomas was born in 1922. Although he was named as a director of the family company, he chose to study medicine at Glasgow University and spent most of his career at Taunton in Devon. At the time of his marriage to Johan MacKay in 1947, he was working in Ipswich.
