Alexander Robertson and his wife, Isabella Ogilvie had fifteen children, many of whom ended up spread across the world.
David was born at Cortachy in 1869 and on the 1901 census he was recorded as a carpenter. He went on to become an electrical engineer and was living in Inverness in 1910.
Betsy Farquharson was born at Glenisla in 1871, and married William Robb at Perth in 1899. The moved to live at South Shields.
Helen born 1872 and died in 1890 at Inverness.
Charles was born at Persie in 1874. He married Betsy Robertson at Glenshee in 1912 and they were living in Canada by 1921.
Martha was born at Glenshee in 1875. She was married in 1898 to Alexander Maclean, a farmer from Lambton who had previously carried out extensive business in Fortrose where a quantity of bunting had been displayed in honour of the nuptials. In 1910, Alexander was recorded as an Auctioneer at Invergordon. The couple had moved to live in Canada by 1911.
Isabella was born at Glenshee in 1877. She was recorded as a general domestic servant on the 1901 census. She married Alexander (Alastair) Hugh Fraser in 1904 at Inverness. Alexander was a draper from Beauly and son of Thomas Fraser. His brother was also draper and a councillor in Beauly. By 1911, the couple were living at Wellingborough, Northampton. Sadly Alexander died in 1913 leaving Isabella a widow with two young daughters. It is believed Isabella died in Australia.
Alexander was born at Cortachy in 1878 and was living in New York by 1910.
William was born at Glenisla in 1879. his name was later changed in June 1881, to Collinson Hall. The 1901 census has him living in South Shields with sister Betsy Robb and by the 1911 census he was recorded as a butcher 1911.
He was married in 1913 to Donaldina Chisholm and it is believed that she continued to work and manage the butcher’s shop. Collinson was recorded as a carpenter’s labourer on the 1921 census.
Collinson died in 1947 at Muir of Ord with Donaldina remianing in the village until her own death in 1967.
Cicely Hall was born at Cortacht in 1881 and was recorded as a shop assistant on the 1901 census. She married William Ross Gordon in 1915 at Dingwall.
Ogilvy was born at Glenshee in 1883 and was also recorded as a shop assistant on the 1901 census. He married Jessie Ann P Whyte in 1932 at Inverness.
Susan Ann was born at Applecross in 1887 and she married Kenneth McKay in 1912 at Inverness. She died in 1968 and is buried at Kilchrist.
John McNicoll was born at Applecross in 1890 and was living with his sister Bessie at Durham in 1911 where he was a fitters apprentice. He died in Australia.
Mary, I have not managed to find a birth entry for Mary, however census reports she was born at Shieldaig or Applecross around 1894.
Jessie was born at Applecross in 1895. She became a shorthand typist in Inverness where she also married Bank Clerk, Donald John Alexander Munro. They were married in March 1918 and by November 1918, Jessie sadly died of Influenza.
