Muir of Ord to Cromarty Railway Line

Lady Bignold cutting the first sod of the Cromarty and Dingwall railway line (sic) on 13 February 1914. The line was eventually constructed from Muir of Ord to Fortrose but financial restraints due to the First World War did not allow the extension as far as Cromarty to proceed.

Most of the former track has disappeared under farmland but it is possible to walk along the old track from Muir of Ord to Redcastle and from Avoch to Fortrose.
