Edderton, north of Tain, is situated close to the Meikle Ferry, a traditional crossing from Tain to Dornoch. The former, somewhat circuitous, route round the Dornoch Firth was shortened when HM The Queen Mother opened the Dornoch bridge in the summer of 1991.
